Barney is originally our take on the classic French worker jacket, unlined with a simplistic 3-pocket design. This particular Barney, on the other hand, takes its inspiration from the younger and lined American counterpart, the chore coat. Similarly, this jacket is fully lined with a striped wool-mix blanket that consists of 85% recycled fibers. To account for the lining and to ensure that you can layer up to keep warm we have added some extra room to this Barney. And if the weather calls for it, the collar with its smooth brown corduroy can be popped to protect your neck. What further makes this jacket lean towards the American workwear heritage is the crispy deep indigo denim with its greyish weft that we have used. This tightly woven 10.75 oz denim is crispy thanks to the starch and will, therefore, crease rather easily, creating sharp wear marks with use. The denim itself is constructed from fine deep indigo warp yarns that have a copper tint. The greyish weft yarns are coarser as well as slubby and neppy. This gives the denim its dark tone and neppy surface. With wear, the slub will reveal the slightly crossy structure and the copper tint will show underneath the indigo. With further wearing and washing the tint will also wear off. Needless to say, this fabric has a rather unique and intricate aging property. And just like its French and American predecessors aged with pride, so will this jacket.
